Community outreach! Miss Sandra Maluorni's Sec.5 Leadership students participated in the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) for the chance to win $ 5000 for their chosen local charity. YPI was created by the Toskan Casale Foundation in 2002, as a way to help grow compassionate communities. YPI is an opportunity for students to step out into our community & learn about the different social issues people are facing, as well as the valuable work charities do to address these issues. Students research local organizations, select one, visit and then advocate for it, as part of a class presentation. Thank you to our panel of judges; Daniel Johnson, Leadership mentor, Paolo Galati, Chairman – Council of Commissioners Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board, Bob Pellerin, Commissioner Ward 5, Peter Papadeas, Rawdon Elementary School Community principal. Special thanks to Guillaume Denommé, of Provincial Deputy Véronique Hivon’s office. Who is this year’s winning team? Shawn Desilets, Megan Stanton, Lana Marando, Kelly Pugliesi, Charles Desroches The winning charity?
Special thanks also to Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI)'s national funding partners, TD, the Peter Cundill Foundation and the Mirella & Lino Saputo Foundation, and their local partner, the R. Howard Webster Foundation, and their French translation partner, Fondation du Grand Montréal.
